I decided to link back to this page because many people have asked how long I've been quilting and the answer is more complicated than it should be:)...so here's the poop..... |

My quilting history is as checkered as the rest of my life.... I started with basic four inch squares, in six colors. variegated. That was 12 years ago. It was a case of "If I knew then" I coulda finished it in a tenth of the time:) But I was hooked. I next went on to a ""real" quilt. A sampler that I gave my sister. Right after I finished it, I found out I was pregnant and put the sewing machine away. I was hormonal and had NO patience. After Andrew was born, I went out and bought a bunch of fabric, determined to MAKE time. Eight years later it was still untouched...LOL.
After Katherine was born in October of 1998, I pulled it out and started my quilt. I finally finished it! All it needs now is to be hung up in my living room!
Right now, I have a few things going...I'm still working on my first hand-quilted project: A variation on the Irish Chain done in autumn colors. (update - gave this to Joanie to hand quilt! ) I was putting a pieced border ( a first!) on my minimal contrast quilt done in maywood florals when I decided that I didn't like it. I showed it to my sister, Joanie who actually liked it! She is due for a new quilt. The last one I made her is 11 years old and showing it's age. That's good! It means it was well-used and well-loved! Finally finished my aunts "Lost Ships! (even got it mailed!) Now I'm working on "Heavenly Stars"(I hope to get this mailed this week!) with a very pretty Morning Glory fabric for an online friend (yup, that's you, Jenn!) See test block on "new" quilt page.. Update! Got it mailed and Jenn loved it, warts and all..Will post pix as soon as I get my scanner working.-UPDATE- a pic posted on my "new" quilt page!. also have the stuff for Kath's new quilt (she doesn't care for her current one...:) .It's flannel with really cute bunnies on it..she picked out the fabric, she better like this one! Menopausal update! I lost the last 3 blocks I made and have no more fabric! A prayer or two might help me find them:) I also picked up the fabric and pattern for a wedding present. I was smart, it's a wall-hanging:) Update; Figured as soon as I started this one, I'd find the bunnie blocks, but no such luck. This block is a little bit of a challenge for me, but it's fun!! UPDATE almost done! just need to tie and post a pic! This was a small miracle since there was a mistake in the pattern, but I fixed it! WOOHOO! I'm on to the baby quilt for my Goddaughter using some Baby Bali Batiks that are gorgeous...I hope I can do them justice! And of course there's that one I've been promising my husband for quite some time now....
I usta feel guilty about all my UFOs, then I said "the heck with that!" This is my hobby, my main creative outlet...I can do whatever I want, when I want to! |
